And now onto the forecast discussion. Wow, what a first forecast. Too bad most meteorologists don't get credit for nice weather, only get the blame for rain/storm/snows. After a weak cold front moves through this evening High Pressure is going to build into the Ohio River Valley and keep the sky over London clear for the majority of the next 5 days. Fog is going to be likely the next few mornings as dewpoints will be near the morning low's, but that's is typical of August and September. So enjoy the next couple of the days and your Labor Day Holidy.

Tropical Discussion:

Okay now onto the big news in the weather world, Hurricane Gustav. As of this posting It has maximum sustained winds of 80 mph and a barometric pressure of 975mb. Here is the current satellite image and the path it's traveled so far, as seen in Google Earth

.

Here is the official Hurricane Track from the National Hurricane Center once again seen in Google Earth.

The NHC has it pegged to hit near Lake Charles, LA between 8PM EST Monday and 8PM EST Tuesday. The High pressure that is going to be keeping our weather nice, is going to slow down Gustav according to the NHC. I'm not sure I completely buy this scenario just yet, the GFS has winds coming from the south when Gustav moves into the northern gulf on Monday. I'm personally leaning more towards this path, which is the GFDL model.

The GFDL is putting it just west of New Orleans at about 8:00 AM monday. I like this track but I think this model might be just a bit to fast. I'm personally betting on Landfall after Midnight Monday.

And finally here is a look at where most of the models are pegging Gustav's track.

So there's your look at Gustav this evening. I'm not going to be discussing Hanna tonight, I figure will burn that bridge when she gets a little closer to landfall. I'll be back tomorrow with an updated 5 day forecast, until then enjoy life and have a great day.

Oh and as a bonus treat for checking out my first forecast, here's a link to my resume reel as I'm currently looking for a job in Meteorology.
